Meet people, ask them right set of questions : Santosh Nair on July 19, 2023

Santosh Nair, executive editor of special projects at Moneycontrol said journalists should learn to ask the right questions to the right people and should not hesitate to meet new people. “ More people you meet, more stories you get”, he said.

Nair with his unique way of teaching decoded the structure of the stock market and the way it works. He used comedy videos and movie scenes to simplify stock market terms.

He also compared the order books of National Stock Exchange (NSE) and Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) to explain the differences between them. “ It is easy to trade in NSE rather than BSE due the number of players involved”, said Nair.

“Market goes up in a gradient whereas the fall is vertical”, he said while explaining the trends in markets.

With Nair's experience of over two decades, he explained the scope of covering markets and associated risks with it. Nair said financial journalists who are able to read balance sheets have an edge in covering the stock market.
