Veteran journalist Thomas K Thomas used his lecture at the Asian College of Journalism to help the students understand the inner workings of the telecom sector.

The Hindu BusinessLine’s Mumbai bureau chief explained the importance of key events ranging from the sector’s liberalisation to the 2G scandal that rocked the industry.

He also helped the students understand the main concerns of consumers and why many telecom companies lost value after peaking in the late noughties.

He explained the reasons behind the bankruptcies of major private companies and the decline of a prominent public sector unit.

TKT, as he is fondly called, urged the students to develop an analytical mindset to be able to connect the dots faster and understand the bigger picture. He also encouraged them to never compromise on integrity, especially while taking the heat from the powers that be.
