It is with profound sorrow that we share the passing of Mr. Navin B. Chawla, former Chief Election Commissioner of India, and Chairperson of SAF-India, on February 1, 2025. His departure is an immense loss to us all, but his extraordinary legacy of service, compassion, and leadership will continue to inspire generations.
Mr. Chawla’s contributions to humanitarian causes were unparalleled. Through The Lepra India Trust for the Hearing Impaired, he transformed the lives of over 10,000 students, and provided care and dignity to thousands of leprosy patients. His unwavering commitment to the marginalised, shaped by his deep association with Mother Teresa, reflected his lifelong dedication to selfless service.
As Chairperson of SAF-India, Mr. Chawla played a pivotal role in fostering regional cooperation and advancing education, culture, and peace across South Asia. His vision of a borderless world built on love and mutual respect will continue to guide our mission.
