Concentrations

In the second semester, the programme will continue to be digital and multimedia. However, students, armed with multi-platform skills acquired in the first semester, will choose one of the following two Concentrations:
a) Digital Journalism
b) Video and Audio Journalism.

The Digital Journalism concentration is a blend of the best of print and digital journalism. It incorporates multimedia storytelling for both platforms. Students become adept in producing multimedia stories for web and social media, and for print in the form of broadsheets and tabloids. Both print and digital stories will have photographs, maps, data charts, info graphics, timelines, and other multimedia elements.

The digital stories will have additional elements such as video, audio, social media embeds, interactive graphics, and infographics. Often, these stories are mounted on immersive storytelling (story telling parallax) platforms such as Shorthand.

The Video and Audio Journalism concentration will cover broadcast and niche formats, visual framing and treatment for different screens and contexts, and podcast as a genre.
