The Attakkalari Centre for Movement Arts, Bengaluru, presented a lecture-demonstration of its work and creative processes, focusing on the ‘Sonnet of Samsara’, an immersive transdisciplinary performance.
Interspersed with excerpts from the production, Jayachandran Palazhy, Artistic Director of Attakkalari, explained how the ‘Sonnet’ captured the spirit of contemporary life through a seamless fusion of movement, technology, and artistic expression. It explored the eternal cycle of life, death, and rebirth, blending Kalaripayattu, contemporary dance, live music, and community-created art into a powerful sensory experience.
Palazhy also introduced Nagarika, a digital platform for dancers and performers that offered detailed explanations and demonstrations of adavus (basic movements). The evening featured a captivating Kalaripayattu sequence and a performance highlighting the art of controlling breath and emotions.
